Magnetohydrodynamic stagnation point flow of Williamson hybrid nanofluid via stretching sheet in a porous medium with heat source and chemical reaction

The stagnation point flow of non-Newtonian fluids has several engineering and industrial applications. In this article, we considered the investigation of the magnetohydrodynamic stagnation point flow of Williamson hybrid nanofluid with chemical reaction and energy generation effects over a porous extending sheet. Similarly, the characteristics of radiation and convective boundary conditions are also taken. Presumptions of boundary layer movement of Williamson hybrid nanofluid facilitate the simplification of the essential mathematical equations for the conservation of mass, energy, momentum and concentration. By introducing the similarity variables, the controlling partial differential equations have been transformed into dimensionless ordinary differential equations. Then, the most effective homotopy analysis method is used to approximate the solutions of reduced ordinary differential equations. Graphical calculations are carried out for hybrid nanofluid [Formula: see text] and nanofluid [Formula: see text]. To investigate the impacts of leading parameters, graphs for the quantities are generated. At the boundary, the local skin friction factor, the Sherwood number and the Nusselt number are also determined. According to the outcomes, it is discovered that when the porosity parameter increases the velocity profile of the hybrid nanofluid [Formula: see text] climbs above that of the nanofluid [Formula: see text]. An increase in thermal radiation parameter and Biot number causes a greater thickness of the thermal boundary layer, which in turn raises the temperature of the hybrid nanofluid. Furthermore, the increased chemical reaction decreases the concentration in both [Formula: see text] hybrid nano liquid and [Formula: see text] mono nanofluid cases.

Significance of heat and mass transport in peristaltic flow of Jeffrey material subject to chemical reaction and radiation phenomenon through a tapered channel

Abstract Using mathematical modeling and computational analysis, this study aims to examine the peristaltic blood flow of a non-Newtonian material in a tapered channel with radiative heat flux and response mechanisms. By utilizing a long-wavelength approximation, ignoring the wave number, and performing under conditions of low Reynolds number, closed form solutions for the velocity, temperature, and concentration fields are achieved. Several governing parameters and their effects on the system were analyzed, and relevant diagrams were provided. Increasing the Biot number, Jeffrey material, and thermal radiation parameter of the heat and mass transfer mechanism increases the velocity profile. When the heat source/sink parameter and the heat transfer Biot number increase, the temperature profile improves. The resultant concentration distributions are enhanced when mass transfer Biot number, heat radiation, and chemical processes are all raised. We observe that the pressure rate decreases in all three pumping zones when the heat transfer Grashof number and heat transfer Biot number rise. This is because the pressure rate is affected by the Grashof number and Biot number of heat transmission. The increase in thermal radiation parameter and heat transfer Biot number results in a slower rate of heat transfer than when Prandtl number and heat source/sink parameter increases. When the Soret number, Schmidt number, Biot number, and heat source/sink parameter are all raised, the mass transfer coefficient also rises. This rate, however, decreases as the heat radiation and chemical reaction parameters rise. The findings presented in this study have interesting implications for other aspects of human physiology. The preponderance of organs are permeable. Furthermore, fluids render the location of natural boundaries uncertain. The presented mathematical model can be used to derive predictions about the behavior of various systems. For the study of cancer treatment in biological systems, a mathematical model that includes nanoparticles, viscosity dissipation, and rotation holds much promise. Model development incorporated Soret–Dufour effects and thermal analysis of the digestive system.

Comparative analysis of hybrid nanofluids with Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model: A thermal case study

The hybrid nanofluids have higher heat transfer efficiency than nanofluids, which has expanded their applications to include electronic cooling, production, automobile, heat transfer, solar energy, heating elements, and biomedical. The current research aims to investigate the effects of Powell-Eyring hybrid nanofluid with slip boundary conditions, and the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model over a moving surface. By applying the appropriate transformations, the governing boundary layer system is transformed into a dimensionless non-linear ODEs. These non-linear ODEs are computed numerically by using the Keller-Box method via computational tool MATLAB. Physical flow performance and numerical results of physical parameters are obtained by using the MATLAB tool. The researchers noted that hybrid nanofluid have a higher heat transfer rate than nanofluid. The consequences reveal that the velocity profile diminishes with an augmentation in a volumetric fraction of nanoparticles parameter, slip parameter, and porous medium parameter. Furthermore, an increase in thermal radiation parameter, volumetric fraction of nanoparticle parameter, Biot number, and thermal relaxation parameter enhance the temperature layer thickness. To the researchers' knowledge, no one has previously attempted to investigate the current challenge using a mass-based hybrid nanofluid framework. Furthermore, the problem's solution is novel. Indeed, the findings of this research are unique, and the numerical results have never been reported before. Furthermore, the researchers assumed that the findings of this study will be valuable in the development of a hot-wire anemometer or a shielded thermocouple for monitoring wind velocity, among other applications.

Nonlinear Approximation for Natural Convection Flow Near a Vertical Plate With Thermal Radiation Effect

Abstract A nonlinear approximation for natural convection boundary layer flow near a vertical wall under the influence of thermal radiation is analyzed. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations via the similarity transformation. The final dimensionless equations are solved numerically using the Runge Kutta Ferlberg fourth-fifth order (RKF45) method. The effects of the embedded parameters affecting the flow formation, temperature distribution, Nusselt number, and skin friction are thoroughly examined. It is found out that the temperature gradient is directly proportional to the thermal radiation parameter near the vertical plate whereas it is inversely proportional to the temperature gradient far away from the vertical plate. It is also found that the flow formation near the vertical wall could be enhanced with the increase in thermal radiation parameter. However, this increase remains unaffected in the freestream region. Furthermore, results also show that the rate of heat transfer could be enhanced with the increase in thermal radiation whereas decreases with the increase in other embedded flow parameters.

Hall and ion slip effects on magnetohydrodynamic convective rotating flow of Jeffreys fluid over an impulsively moving vertical plate embedded in a saturated porous medium with Ramped wall temperature

AbstractIn the present study, it is explored theoretically Hall and ion slip effects on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) rotating flow of a viscous, incompressible electrically conducting, and optically thick radiating Jeffreys fluid over an impulsively, moving vertical plate embedded in a saturated porous medium, when the temperature of the plate has a provisionally ramped profile. The exact solutions of the governing equations for the flow domain are attained by making use of the Laplace transform method. The specified analytical solutions are also acquired for some limiting cases. The research phrases of engineering curiosity for skin friction and Nusselt number are originated for both ramped wall temperature and the isothermal plate. Sherwood number is also obtained. The numerical results of velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions are exhibited graphically whereas skin friction, Nusselt number, and also Sherwood number are mentioned in a table form. It is observed that on either cases of ramped wall temperature and isothermal plate, the resultant velocity enhances with an increase in Hall and ion slip parameters. Reversal behavior is observed with an increase in magnetic field parameter, Jeffreys fluid parameter and Prandtl number. Thermal and concentration buoyancy forces and thermal radiation tend to accelerate the resultant velocity throughout the boundary layer region. The temperature reduces with an increase in Prandtl number and reverse effect is observed with an increase in thermal radiation parameter. Mass diffusion tends to enhance to species concentration. The rotation and Jeffreys fluid parameters tend to enhance both stress components. Nusselt number enables to lessen with growing in thermal radiation parameter and is magnified on escalating in time. The Sherwood number is improved with increasing in Schmidt number at the plate and it is refused on increasing in time.

Heat and mass transfer effect on a radiative second grade MHD flow in a porous medium over a stretching sheet

A study on heat and mass transfer of a steady laminar boundary layer flow of an electrically conducting fluid of second grade in a porous medium subject to a uniform magnetic field past a semi-infinite stretching sheet with power law surface temperature or power law surface heat flux. The variations in fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas the numerical values of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented in tabular form for various values of the pertinent flow parameters. The asymptotic expansions of the solutions for large Prandtl number are also given for the two heating conditions. The temperature distribution decreases with the increase in thermal radiation parameter in case of PST and PHF. The rate of mass transfer at the solid surface increases in the presence of magnetic field and decreases with heavier diffusing species.  

Heat and Mass Transfer Analysis on MHD Peristaltic Prandtl Fluid Model through a Tapered Channel with Thermal Radiation

This paper deals with a theoretical investigation of heat and mass transfer with thermal radiation analysis on hydromagnetic peristaltic Prandtl fluid model with porous medium through an asymmetric tapered vertical channel under the influence of gravity field. Analytical results are found for the velocity, pressure gradient, pressure rise, frictional force, temperature and concentration. The influence of varied governing parameters is discussed and illustrated diagrammatically through a set of figures. It can be seen that the axial velocity enhances with an increase in gravity parameter. It is observed that the temperature of the fluid reduces within the tapered asymmetric vertical channel by an increase in thermal radiation parameter. Blood flow in concentration profile increases with an increase in thermal radiation parameter. It is worth mentioning that the rate of pumping rises in all the four regions, i.e. retrograde pumping region, peristaltic pumping region, free pumping region and an augmented region with an increase in Prandtl fluid parameter.

Effect of Thermal Radiation on Magneto-Convection of a Micropolar Nanoliquid towards a Non-Linear Stretching Surface with Convective Boundary

The objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of thermal radiation on MHD mixed convection flow of a micropolar nanoliquid   towards a non-linear stretching surface with convective boundary condition. The governing equations are converted into non-linear    ordinary differential equations by using suitable similarity transformations. The homotopy analysis method is used for solving the non-linear ordinary differential equations. The temperature profiles increase due to increase in thermal radiation parameter. The microrotation   profile increases when boundary parameter is increased. Also, the skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt are plotted for various    parameters.  

MHD natural convection flow of viscoelastic fluid over an accelerating permeable surface with thermal radiation and heat source or sink: Spectral Homotopy Analysis Approach

Abstract An analysis is presented to study the effects of viscous dissipation and viscoelastic parameter on MHD natural convection flow of viscoelastic fluid over an accelerating permeable surface with thermal radiation and heat source/sink. The governing differential equations that are highly nonlinear are transformed by similarity variables and solved using Spectral Homotopy Analysis Method (SHAM). The effects of various pertinent parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles as well as the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are presented graphically and in tabular form. The SHAM results are compared favorably with already established results in literatures. It is found that the magnetic field acts as a retarding force on the velocity profile of the flow but has a propelling effect on the thermal condition of the flow. It was revealed that an increase in thermal radiation parameter of the flow produces significant increase in the thermal condition of the fluid temperature.

Effects of thermal radiation, Soret and Dufour on an unsteady heat and mass transfer flow of a chemically reacting fluid past a semi-infinite vertical plate with viscous dissipation

In this paper, the influence of some thermo-physical properties of fluid on heat and mass transfer flow past semi-infinite moving vertical plate is considered. The fluid considered is optically thin such that the thermal radiative heat loss on the fluid is modeled using Rosseland approximation. The governing equations representing the physical model is a system of partial differential equations which are transformed into systems of coupled non-linear partial differential equation by introducing non-dimensional variables. The resulting equations are solved using the spectral relaxation method (SRM). The result shows that an increase in Eckert number of the fluid actually increases the velocity and temperature profiles of the flow. Whereas an increase in thermal radiation parameter reduces the temperature distribution when the plate is being cooled. The computational results for velocity, temperature and the concentration profiles are displayed graphically for various flow pertinent parameters.

Wire Coating Analysis in MHD Flow and Heat Transfer of a Radiative Third Grade Fluid with Variable Viscosity in a Porous Medium

Wire coating process is a continuous extrusion process for primary insulation of conducting wires with molten polymers for mechanical strength and protection in aggressive environments. In the present study wire coating is performed using radiative melt polymer satisfying third grade fluid model. The novelty of this study is to analyze the effect of porosity, thermal radiation parameter and varying temperature dependent viscosity on the wire coating. Reynolds Model and Vogel’s Model have been considered to account for temperature dependent viscosity. The equations characterizing the flow and heat transfer phenomena are solved numerically by fourth order Runge-Kutta method and the effects of pertinent parameters are shown with the help of graphs. It is interesting to remark that an increase in non-Newtonian parameter increases the velocity in the absence of porous matrix which coincides with the results reported earlier but in the presence of porous matrix the velocity decreases in the entire span of the flow domain. It is also interesting to note that increase in thermal radiation parameter accelerates the process in the presence of porous matrix. Further, the flow instability in the flows of extrusion die is well marked in case of Vogel’s model as pointed out by Nhan-Phan-Thien.

Unsteady MHD free convective Couette flow between vertical porous plates with thermal radiation

This study investigates the unsteady MHD free convective Couette flow of viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid between two infinite vertical porous plates in the presence of transverse magnetic field and thermal radiation. Solutions for time dependent energy and momentum equations are obtained by the implicit finite difference method. To check the accuracy of the numerical solutions, steady state solutions for energy and momentum equations are obtained by using the perturbation method. The effect of various parameters controlling the physical situation is discussed with the aid of line graphs. Significant results from this study are that both velocity and temperature increase with the increase in thermal radiation parameter and time. A series of numerical experiments show that steady state velocity and temperature occur when the dimensionless time approaches the values of Prandtl number of the fluid. During the course of numerical computation, an excellent agreement was found between unsteady and steady state solutions at large value of time.
